Langkawi, Malaysia to Krabi Thailand. What is the best route? From Langkawi take a ferry from jetty port at Kuah Town to Satun Thailand. There are three ferry times to satun from Langkawi. But we took the earliest departure which is 9am. It would take 45mins to 1 hour to reach Satun Thailand. Be sure to adjust your watch . Thailand is one hour behind Malaysia.

Cost of ferry ticket to Satun : RM30/person

From Satun, you go through immigration. Then ride the tuktuk to town to take a bus going to Krabi. From Satun town to Krabi town , it would take 4 to 5 hr bus ride.

Cost of Tuktuk from jetty port of Satun to Satun Town : TB20/person

Cost of Bus ride to Krabi : TB230/person

In Singapore and Malaysia you won't have trouble in communicating with the locals. But in Thailand, prepare yourself for not so many locals can speak english. But it's okay don't panic. . .

Yes, DON'T PANIC! Though this town was hit by a tsunami years ago, they've rebuilt it and has taken steps to protect the Thai people and tourists as well in case such natural calamity will occur again.

So, why go to krabi and not Phuket?

1. To stay in Krabi is much cheaper than Phuket. It's more quiet and less commercialized than Phuket.

2. From Krabi, you may also reach Phi Phi Islands by taking speedboat tours. Cost: TB 1000/person. They'll bring you to Bamboo Island, Monkey Island, Viking Island, Phi Phi Don, Ton Sai Beach, Snorkel at Phangan Bay, Maya Beach (scenes from the famous Leonardo Di Caprio's movie The Beach). They'll even provide Lunch, drinking water, cola, life vests, snorkel equipments. All for TB1,000!!

3. Watch Muay Thai competition.

4. Eat pad thai everyday.

5. Pose like Leonardo Di Caprio ala The Beach at Maya Beach.

6. Snorkeling is the national sport of tourists in Southern Thailand.

How to enjoy Langkawi?

1. Rent a Car - it's absolutely practical. There are no public transportations available in Langkawi except for a taxi. Don't worry if you did not bring your Driver's Licence they won't ask anyway. You also have to put your on petrol. But first you must learn how to open a defective gas tank

door. . .

Cost: RM 50/day (for a not so new proton car)

2. Book an Island Hopping Tour. It will cost you RM29/person. Itinerary includes Lake of the pregnant woman, Eagle feeding,

3. Sightseeing is the best past time in Langkawi. So, make sure you pack your sun protection cream, shades, lots and lots of water, map of the island (in case you get lost. . .)

4. Pig out! Take time in taking in the flavors of Malaysian cuisine.

5. Visit the Duty Free Shops. Buy lots of chocolates. And buy yourself a new luggage, it's very very cheap here. Bought mine for RM71. Saleslady said waterproof material. . .

ASIAN ADVENTURE

Our adventure started in Singapore. We heard that it's really expensive to stay in Singapore so we decided to just pass by and eat at a hawker stall. Tiong Bahru was our first stop.
Spent a total of SGD30 to SGD40 on gloriously delicious meal!

Then we headed out to the newest Singapore attraction - Singapore Flyer - SGD29.50/adult entrance fee. You get to see the whole city for 30 minutes in a whole new way. Much like London Eye (in London).

After 5 hrs in Singapore we took a midnight bus to Kuala Lumpur. Buses going to malaysia are cheap and very comfortable. Best to hop on a bus during the night, it not only saves you accomodation expense but also less hotter to travel.

We arrived in Kuala Lumpur around 5am in the morning. Accomodations around KL during that time are fully booked because of the Formula One racing event. No choice but to pay more. Sigh

After a refreshing sleep and bath, we headed out to see the ever famous Petronas and KL Tower.

It's a quiet sunday morning , few cars are on the road. On the way to Petronas we spotted this cute hawaiian theme bar and resto .

At the end of the road is this humongous building towering over you. Despite of the KL heat , tourists flocked to KLCC Suria and the Petronas Twin Towers. But mind you, you have to book your tickets as early as 8am if you want to have an opportunity to climb up to the viewing deck. They only allow a certain number of persons in a day for viewing.

So you see, it's the Formula One fever in KL. Pose for the camera girl.

Hey! Do you mind?

A ground breaking experience and an ear splitting one. Watching the Formula One was extremely exciting! I was looking forward to seeing a car crashed to complete my experience. But unfortunately. the rain spoilt all the action. The race had to be stopped for a while. Spectators from all walks of life and all types of color grew impatient so just fill out the time , took our pictures ang goofed around the hillstand.

Hey Pinoys out there! Have you been to this place called Caramoan?

A hidden paradise is tucked away in a place called Caramoan in Camarines Sur in the Bicol Region. It is not as popular as the Boracay Paradise but ever since France Survivor staged its series here it has become a popular destination for Foreigners and Pinoys alike.

A mere 8 hours , you can easily get to Naga by bus or yet take a 30-45 mins. plane ride. From Naga ride a van or jeep going to Sabang Port and from there ride a ferry to Caramoan Mainland.

Do not expect lavish hotels and resorts in the island because you wouldn't find one.
There are tourist inns and small pension houses available and even homestays for a small fee.

Homestay

During the summer months me and my friends make it a point to explore the islands. But we don't stay in posh hotels or resorts. Instead we opt to go HOMESTAY.

What is Homestay?
It is defined as an act by a homeowner to open the doors of their home/house for transients who are willing to pay rental fees during their stay . Homestays can last from one day to a month depending on the need. An owner has to seek accreditation from the local tourism sector for accreditation. This is an income generating business especially for the locals in the islands. But they must adhere to regulations set by the local tourism gov't or Dept. of Tourism.

What is good about Homestay?
1. It's Cheap. During low season a homestay may just cost you as low as Php300 or $7 a night per room.
2. You can cook ! Or arrange your meals to be prepared by the homeowner for a minimal fee. Nothing beats a good homecooked meal during a vacation.
3. Homeowners are usually helpful in providing information on how to get around the area.
4. Complete amenities like t.v., laundry, aircon just like in your own home.
5. Hosta are just friendly folks willing to share some stories or a little bit of history of the place you are visiting.
